On the first day of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce the launch of American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for the Department Press Briefing. This is in addition to live captioning already included for Department Press Briefings.

The team of ASL interpreters who will be interpreting the Department Press Briefing includes Certified Deaf Interpreters, ensuring representative and nuanced interpretation of the briefing for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. This vital translation service reflects the Department’s commitment to Deaf inclusion, and helps ensure equitable access to information to all to enable full participation in our democratic society.
