Dispel Wins Second Consecutive ‘Vendor to Watch’ Award at the 2022 Smart Utility Summit
150+ North American utility leaders honor Dispel's industry-leading Moving Target Defense-based secure remote access platform for the second time in a row.

GALVESTON, Texas - December 14, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Dispel (dispel.com), the world's leading secure remote access platform for industrial networks and critical infrastructure, announced today that they won the "Smart Utility Vendor to Watch" Award at the 2022 Smart Utility Summit. 150 of North America's leading electric, water, and wastewater utilities attended the Summit, culminating in a vote-based award ceremony at which Dispel was officially named "Vendor to Watch," among other honorable mentions, including:

  • Smart Utility Vendor to Watch, winner
  • Best Smart Utility Solution, finalist
  • Best Overall Boardroom Presentation, finalist

This is the second time in a row the North American utility executives in attendance at the Smart Utility Summit voted to award Dispel the "Vendor to Watch" title.

Many of the utilities in attendance at this year's summit already use Dispel's Moving Target Defense-based platform for secure remote access, protecting their networks and their teams simultaneously. In 2022, North American utilities used Dispel to manage over 1 trillion gallons of water moving through their industrial systems, up from approximately 170 billion gallons in 2021.

"Of course we're elated," said Ian Schmertzler, Dispel President, "we won as a write-in. It's high praise to be recognized by so many important innovators, the people who keep the lights on and the water running all across the continent. Moving into 2023, the data flows related to critical infrastructure in the United States must align with standards like NIST SP 800-171 and 800-172, as well as a raft of additional sector-specific guidelines. We're proud to be recognized for our work using the Dispel platform to keep countless utilities secure and compliant around the world."

January 2023 is the deadline for utilities to apply for $2.3 billion in federal funding available through the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant for resilient critical infrastructure. With the application window closing quickly, utilities attending the 2022 Smart Utility Summit were actively looking for compliant systems to replace the non-aligned tools or home-built setups that, even if they do meet today's security standards, are inefficient at scale.

Dispel's Moving Target Defense-based remote access platform is a clear front-runner to solve this problem, not just for North American utilities but for international critical and industrial systems with the foresight to invest in their resilience against pressing global challenges like climate change, natural disasters, and sophisticated cyberattacks.
